About our business

First, a bit of background;

A family business established by Chris and family in 1992 trading as Dolls House Cottage Workshop, abbreviated to DHCW.

Chris is a time served joiner who specialised in stair building, a passion that has been incorporated into his dolls houses from day one.

Qualifications include City & Guilds and Institute of Carpenters (IOC)

Website

www.dollshousemouldings.com is a domain name chosen to best describe the products available from this online shop. Customers from the UK, Europe and now USA are able to buy with a smooth and simple ordering method.

Although this site is mainly dedicated to wooden mouldings, DHCW have an enviable reputation for making high quality dolls houses and will gradually be adding them to this site.

Shop & showroom

Sawley Marina became the base for this business in 1995 when the shop was opened.
However for many years' time was split between shop and workshop in Long Eaton, not an ideal situation.
Today, the shop/showroom and workshop are in one place on the Marina. Opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday 10.00am - 4.00pm
These hours allow Chris to spend quality time with customers and continue to work on orders, general production and pack goods for mail order.
In-store you will find all the products on this site and many more.

Materials

Only top quality materials are used in production of both houses and mouldings.
Every customer can buy products with confidence, house, mouldings and other items that have been selected to meet the strict standards set by Chris and his family.

Chris comments

"Our emphasis is on maintaining quality and consistency with all our products, and continuing to produce many hand made parts. A dolls house kit from our Foundation range will fit together perfectly, just the same as one from the Heirloom collection. Any kit should be fit for purpose, whatever money your spending. We've built our business and reputation over the last 25 years by sticking to this same strategy, only produce quality. We believe for these reasons we can confidently say our mouldings and houses are amongst the best available to date."

Bespoke builds

We also offer bespoke builds, this service includes alterations to any of our houses.
An example of this is Trent View that was ordered as a shop.

Bespoke orders are only available as built houses or shops (not available in kit form) However we can leave details such as windows, doors and mouldings loose for the customer to simply fit once they have decorated.

Due to the various options available to complement, alter and customise each Heirloom house, it is not practical to simply click “Buy Now” it is essential we have a talk about your requirements and build a package around you.

Feel free to have a look at the standard kits and ask any questions you may have before placing an order.
Or come and see the houses in our showroom at Sawley Marina, for a better idea of the excellent quality we know you would be proud to own.
